Eye Check-Up

Charlie had a follow-up eye exam today, he is farsighted but they are not ready to correct it. Fingers crossed it improves with time! While we were waiting for Charlie's appointment, he did what any normal kid would do...model glasses and work on math problems.

She's on top of the world...

Maybe not on top of the world, but she's on top of a very big rock! We visited Arlington Lake today and did some exploring. When we got to this rock I lifted Evy up and she said, "take my picture", which never happens so I immediately obliged!

Underwear!

Yep, that's right Evy is wearing underwear! I told her I would give her "all the treats" if she went potty and she said yes. So far, so good!

(My little pony underwear - Evy's choice!)

Library Time

The first thing I learned about the suburbs this week is that their library is way better than our library in Chicago. There were so many books and toys for the kids to check out. Charlie even built a castle!

First Day of First Grade!

We officially have a first grader! Charlie started school today. He has been looking forward to the first day of school and although it was a quick summer it is nice to get back to a schedule. He was extremely excited to meet his new teacher, Miss Chalberg and she seems wonderful. Charlie is going to have a great year at his new school!

Mommy-Charlie Fun

Before Charlie heads back to school, I wanted to spend some special time with him. Charlie wanted to go to the bowling alley so we headed to Waveland bowl for a couple games. We finished up with a hot dog lunch and a trip to the candy store before heading home. I had so much fun spending the day with Charlie.

Santa's Village

Before school started Nana and Pops wanted to take Charlie back to Santa's Village. We were rained out yesterday, but today was a perfect day to ride the rides. Charlie was tall enough for all except one (which was disappointing for him) and Evy rode everything that she could without any fear.

Navy Pier Family Night

It was official Dobry Family Night at Navy Pier. We thought it would be fun to take the kids to dinner at the pier, ride the new ferris wheel and watch the fireworks. Unfortunately we did everything a little too fast and we had to wait quite a while for fireworks, but the kids were entertained so it all worked out in the end and we had another great summer night full of fun memories.

Tooth #2 Down!

(One Happy Boy!)

Klompen

Uncle Brian came back from Germany this weekend. He brought us all back lots of goodies, but the kids were extra spoiled. He brought back lots of Kinder Eggs (Charlie's favorite candy - that he has never actually had) and Evy got special slippers from Holland or Klompen. She modeled them for me today. Thank you Uncle Brian!

Splash Pad Fun

When it's hot we find water and today we found a new-to-us park in Lakeview that had a great playground and a fun splash pad.

Chuck E Cheese - Year 3

The first time I brought Charlie to Chuck E. Cheese I was very pregnant with Evy and I was desperate for indoor fun that would keep Charlie entertained. Three years later it has become a summer tradition. 130 token and over two hours later I had two happy kids!

The Wheels on the Bus

My car needed to be serviced today and they had no idea when my car would be ready for pick-up. Instead of waiting it out, we decided to head home via public transportation. We took the red line to Fullerton and then the bus home. The kids thought it was quite an adventure. (Luckily we didn't wait because it was not ready until 7:00 pm!)

Wagner Farms

We visited Wagner Farm today. The kids loved the tractors, gathering eggs and petting the horses. The ice cream was by far the highlight as it usually is!
