Happy Halloween 2016

It was a warm 60 degree day for Halloween this year which was amazing. This was the first time Evy trick or treated without rain! The afternoon started with Charlie's school parade, his werewolf costume was a big hit. After school we headed to Nana and Pops' house for a quick snack before Matt arrived and we started trick or treating. We went out for about an hour before stopping for a dinner break and then another 30 minutes after dinner. The kids successfully collected two pumpkins full of candy, so I deem that a Halloween success!

We Voted!

I took Evy to vote with me today and she even helped me press the button to vote for the first woman presidential candidate. Regardless of the outcome, I am so proud to have my daughter growing up in a world where women are crushing those "glass ceilings". I cannot wait to see all of the amazing things she can accomplish in her lifetime.

Annual Pumpkin Farm Visit

Every year we visit a pumpkin farm with grandma and grandpa. This year we headed to Homer Glen and the kids enjoyed rides, pig races (yes, it's a thing), a park and a delicious lunch. It was a perfect fall day!

Go Cubs Go! NLDS CHAMPIONS!

We had friends over to watch the last game of the NLDS series, but once it looked like the Cubs were going to clinch everyone headed out to watch the last few innings at a nearby bar. I promised Charlie I would wake him up if they won and I tried...he sat up for a minute and then laid back down. However, Evy was still awake and thrilled to come down stairs and celebrate! Go Cubs Go!

BB8 - The Pumpkin

Charlie had to recreate a character from one of his books out of a pumpkin for a school project. He came up with the idea of BB8. We helped him with the head, but he took control of this entire project and did an amazing job.

Cub Scouts Haunted Hike

Charlie had his first outing as an official Boy Scout. His pack went on a not-scary haunted hike. The idea was to show the kids that the scary Halloween hikes are not really scary. Charlie would have preferred a little more scare, but he had a great time making some new friends.

Top Knot

My 3 year old now looks like a 12 year old. She wanted to wear her hair up to bed like mommy!

Haunted GInger Bread Houses

Charlie finally has a day off of school! He gets out early every Wednesday, so he does not get many days off but today was the exception. We had some errands to run as we get ready for our move, but we stopped to get haunted Halloween gingerbread houses. Charlie took his time trying to make it perfect, while Evy just ate most of the candy.

Mini-Picasso

Evy does not gravitate towards art the same way Charlie always has, but she does love to paint. What better way to spend a rainy afternoon?

Happy Halloween from the Minion

Evy does not like taking pictures these days, but when she saw this Minion she said, "take my picture" and I happily obliged.
