About Our Family

We have been on the move since May 25, 2008. It was on that day Matt and I were engaged on a beach in Sarasota, Florida.  Simultaneously (with the help of his younger brother, Patrick,) he was moving out of his condo into my studio apartment to provide us maximum flexibility while we searched for our future home.

In August 2008, after a long search, we purchased our home in Lincoln Park.  The following day we traveled to Beijing, China for a trip of a lifetime to the Summer Olympics. We returned from our amazing trip and moved into our new home a week later. 

We started planning our wedding in the fall of 2008 when I learned that my boss intended on running for Congress, which meant lots of work and busy weekends. In the midst of wedding showers, bachelor parties, and bachelorette parties, my boss campaigned for and was eventually elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on April 7, 2009.

Our wedding was to take place on April 25, 2009.  We were set to leave for Mexico a few days prior to the wedding when we learned that the Congressman would be sworn into office just days before our ceremony. We took a slight detour from our scheduled itinerary and flew to Washington D.C. for two days to witness his swearing in ceremony. 

The following day we departed for Mexico to host a magical and memorable wedding celebration.
After our honeymoon we returned to Chicago where I started my new job for the Congressman.  Just two months later we learned we were expanding to a family of three. 

And that is where the story of Matt and I as loners ends and the story of our family of three began. On March 13, 2010 Charles R. Dobry was born at 11:04 am and our life was instantly changed for the better.

We spent nearly three years as a family of three, enjoying our journey when we decided it was time for us to expand our family again. In January of 2013 we found out we were expanding our family once more.  Matt was in shock and Charlie was excited, until he found out he was having a sister. Luckily his disappointment was short-lived and Charlie was counting down the days until his sister arrived. She made her debut on September 15, 2013 and it is hard to believe we were ever without her. It was love at first sight. 

Our family is complete and now we are enjoying our adventures as a family of four. In this little space we will share our journey and our memories.
