Week of Exploration and City Living

Our first day in the City we woke up and started the day with Gingerbread houses who doesn't love candy in the morning? Once we got moving and out the door, we planned to head to the Christkindlemarket for lunch, but we didn't make it past the Thompson Center because the kids were hungry! So the food court was our first stop. After a super healthy lunch, we headed to the Christkindlmarket but first made a stop at the sculpture outside of the Thompson Center The Christkindlemarket was so busy we made a quick stop to pick up a present for Aunt Elly and then headed home for a nap and to prep for the Christmas weekend ahead.

After surviving Christmas weekend and enjoying tons of family time we headed back downtown. We did not go to Florida this year because we could not leave in the midst of our house construction. We decided we would make the most of our wonderful City and that's exactly what we did...after we lounged in our pajamas all day on December 26th!

Our first stop on Tuesday was Navy Pier. We went to the Winter Wonderfest and used the gift certificates Nana and Pops got the kids to go to Build-a-Bear.

On Wednesday we took the kids to the Field Museum. We were not sure whether or not the kids would enjoy the museum, but it was a hit (at least for Charlie). Evy wanted to know why all of the animals were not moving. We ended our night with dinner and a movie in the cinema room of the building, the kids loved watching Dory on a "big screen".

Charlie and Evy spent Eve of the Eve with grandma and grandpa while we went out for a grown-up dinner. On NYE we rang in the New Year with our besties. We had our first sleep-over with the Martin's and the kids were ecstatic. They were so happy that they didn't fall asleep until 12:30! These crazy kids sure had a good time! We spent the remainder of the weekend recovering and we got out to see Sing, which the kids loved. It was a great week and so nice to be together - even in 900 sq feet!
