Our first night in San Franscico, we took a ride on a cable car (how could we not?) and headed into China town for dinner. After dinner we stopped at a park to let the kids blow off some steam and then headed to Ghiradelli (again, how could we not?).
(most of us on the cable car trying not to fall off)

The next morning, we were up bright and early to make our trip out to Alcatraz, Charlie was super excited! We took the boat out in them morning and did the walking audio tour before heading back to land. Once back, we hopped on a double decker bus that would take us around the city for the rest of the day.

(behind bars and happy!)
(YUCK!)
(still dabbing, on the HOT bus)
(one of our must sees - Full House - the painted ladies)
(whatever happened to predictibility...)
After a very long very hot day, we decided to head to a restaurant near the beach that many people had suggested. No one was super excited about sitting down to a nicer dinner, but in the end it was the best night of the trip. We ended up on an amazing beach and watched an amazing sunset. There was a HUGE sand dune that the kids played on for over an hour, the were filthy and so happy. They also all dipped their toes into the Pacific Ocean - a first for all of them. Typically the weather this time of year is 10 degrees colder and the winds tone down the sunset, but it was warm and there was no wind. It was literally a perfect night.

(another beach view)
(the sand dune - evy blends in, she's in the half way up)

After an amazing night on the beach, we woke up and headed out to Muir Woods. Our last stop of the trip. We were disappointed to miss the Mariposa Grove Sequia Tree in Yosemite because they are supposed to be twice the size of Muir Woods, but Muir Woods was beautiful and serene. We hiked just over two miles before heading back to take in a few more sites in San Fransisco.
(the kids welcomed us to Muir Woods)
(why are my kids photoboming our own photo?)
(look up at that tree - it's huge!)
(dabbing in the woods)
(I heart this place!)
(Still can't see the top of the tree)
(she insisted on a picture near this brook and then wouldn't smile)
After Muir Woods, we headed back to San Fransisco, First stop on the way back was the Golden Gate Bridge followed by a trip down Lombard Street. After Lobard Street we headed to another hotel, our last on this trip that was located in Japantown. We walked to sushi and ice cream and then sat in the hotel courtyard before it was time to call it a night and pack up to head home.
(the golden gate bridge)
(kids and the bridge)
(mommy, charlie and evy - Matt was getting his national park sticker)

And finally....heading home! In just 4 hours we will be back in Chicago and ready to freeze!
