Tonight we visited Santa at the Macy’s on State Street. We waited in line for 30 minutes and Charlie was very patient. He enjoyed watching all the other children and looking at the beautiful decorations. When it was finally our turn we handed him over to Santa and Charlie was all smiles. He stared at Santa in disbelief, “Is this really be him?” and then looked back at us and smiled. Charlie was a good boy and it was a wonderful night. There are additional photos in the photo gallery.

Standing Tall
Charlie is learning new tricks weekly. His latest is a vast array of climbing techniques. He loves his monkey toy and he is very good at pulling himself up on it. He grabs onto furniture, toys, anything he deems as stable and can easily pull himself up to a kneeling position and at times he can even stand up. There are more pictures in the photo gallery.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Charlie celebrated his first Thanksgiving at my parent’s house this year, but unfortunately he woke up with a cold and was not quite himself all day. We served him pureed turkey, but he did not seem to like it. Based on his facial expression, we may as well have served him a lemon!

Independent Boy
He is such a big boy! Now, Charlie can hold his own bottle and feed himself. I still try to keep one hand on the bottle because he loves to throw it and soak the house in formula.

Trick or Treat
We traveled 6 hours to St. Louis to celebrate Charlie’s first Halloween with our college friends and their children. We went to a local outdoor mall where the kids could trick or treat (or their parents could collect candy because none of our babies have more than 4 teeth), get their faces painted and ride on a horse drawn trailer. We only went to a few stores for candy before we detoured for lunch. Next year I think will be a little more exciting for Charlie; I imagine he will be able to toddle up to doors and possibly even say something that sounds like, “trick or treat”.
It was a great weekend, although Charlie was not his usual happy self as evident by the lack of smiles in some of the pictures. We are not sure if he is teething or just overwhelmed by being surrounded by so many people in an unfamiliar place. However, he seemed to bounce right back on Sunday night once we were home. All in all, he did pretty well and enjoyed playing with Henry who is 7 months older and staring at Josie, who is 3 months younger.
