Such a Lady

What do you do when the it is brutally cold outside, go bowling of course! We went to Waveland Bowl to do something fun and stay out of the cold. The kids had a great time. Charlie bowled a strike and a spare (and the spare was without bumpers). Evy really enjoyed the popcorn part of the day and she was not afraid to show it.

(I think I can get my whole hand in my mouth so I don't miss a piece)

(Eh, I will just put my face in the bowl. It's faster)

(Totally worth it, despite the popcorn up the nose)

Pirate Adventures

We wanted to find a fun family excursion for the kids, something new to Charlie, and Matt found it! We went on a pirate ship and Charlie and Evy completed their pirate training, they are now officially pirates. We have certificates to prove it. We took the pirate ship out on the intercostal. At one point, a bad guy tried to board our ship by the kids got him with their water cannons. Charlie and Evy are born to be pirates!

(These two are the cutest)

Beach combing....

The beach is beautiful and there were not many jelly fish this year, but there were lots of waves. Since the ocean did not want to cooperate the kids did not spend much time in the water and kept mainly to the pool, except on a few occasions. Matt took Charlie out twice while Evy was sleeping and we went for a family swim on the last day we were going to have weather in the 80's. Evy loved jumping the waves. On our very last day it was a little too chilly for swimming, so we just hung out on the beach and collected shells.

(Rough waters, but the beach is still fun)

(Sweeping the sand, matey!)

(She wanted to sweep too)

Swim adventures

We spent at least 2-3 hours a day in the pool. Almost everyday we had lunch poolside because there was no way we were going to get the kids out of the water and dressed to eat.  This was the first year that Evy really enjoyed the water and Charlie is still a fish! Unfortunately we don't have lots of pictures because cameras and water don't mix!

Happy New Year!

The downtwon Lauderdale-by-the-Sea has a big New Year's Eve celebration, so we chose to have a low-key poolside dinner at our hotel. After we dinner we went downtown for ice cream. We listened to some music and danced in the street. Evy loved the music! It started getting busy so we headed to the beach to light our sparklers (Charlie's request). The kids went to bed around 9 and Matt and I hung out poolside until the countdown -- Happy New Year!

(Evy loved it. Daddy was scared)
